United Kingdom
Investing and trading platforms for UK investors
UK residents meet global markets through a small set of local facts: which FCA-authorised entity will take them, whether an ISA or SIPP exists, how foreign-exchange charges work on overseas shares, and what the FSCS does not cover. This page is that layer. The markets themselves are documented in the global section.
What is local
A UK platform comparison is about the UK company on the contract, sterling as a base currency where it is offered, and wrappers that do not exist in the US or Finnish systems. It is not a translated copy of the global broker list. Firms with a confirmed UK row are in the comparison tables. Everyone else is Not confirmed, including firms that advertise in English.
Account types, in outline
A general investment account is the taxable default. A stocks and shares ISA is a wrapper with an annual subscription limit set by the government. A SIPP is a pension with access rules, not a cheaper brokerage account. The dedicated pages explain the shape of each. They do not say which provider currently opens them.
Questions readers ask
Does WiT Markets recommend a UK broker?
No. The tables are alphabetical among confirmed names and do not carry a score. Not confirmed means we have not verified availability.
