Methodology

How comparisons are built

WiT Markets would rather show “Not confirmed” than a precise number we cannot defend. This page is the method behind that choice, and the reason the tables do not have a Best column.

How providers are selected

The initial set is a group of firms that international retail investors already meet: multi-market brokers, US and UK investment platforms, FX and CFD firms, and two large crypto exchanges. Selection is not a verdict that they are appropriate. Prop-trading firms, prediction-market venues and alternatives platforms are discussed as categories and are not filled with names until each name has a sourced row.

How data is sourced

Provider facts are meant to come from the provider’s own disclosures and from the register of the regulator that authorises the relevant entity. Market explanations cite exchanges, IOSCO, the BIS, the IMF or a national regulator. A figure without a URL and a checked date is not published as a fact. In this build, fees and minimum deposits are Not confirmed even where a firm publishes a schedule, because those schedules move and a copied number would imply a freshness we have not earned cell by cell.

How fees would be standardised

When fee figures are published, they will be tied to a stated account type, a stated trade size, a stated holding period and a stated currency pair or venue. A zero-commission headline will not be compared with an all-in cost as if they were the same object. Until that template is filled from primary pages, the cell stays Not confirmed.

How country availability is checked

Each provider-country pair is its own record. Availability in the UK is not evidence for Finland. The record names the legal entity, the regulator, the products we are willing to describe, investor-protection wording, the source URL, the date checked and a review status. If the entity is not clear, the row says so. Unknown is not converted into unavailable, because a refusal and a gap in our knowledge are different.

How regulatory entities are verified

The intended check is the FCA register, SEC and FINRA records, ASIC’s professional registers, Finanssivalvonta, and the equivalent home-state register for an EEA firm passporting into Finland. This build names entities that are part of the firms’ public identity and tells the reader to confirm the current permission. It does not paste licence numbers it has not re-read on the day of publication.

How comparisons are ordered

Default order is provider name. Optional sorts for minimum deposit or a standardised fee will be switched on only when those fields are sourced. There is no composite score, no star rating and no commercial weighting. “Best aligned with” is a phrase about the client a firm is built for. It is not a rank.

Reviews, corrections and commercial separation

Pages carry a last-reviewed date stored in the content, not a date stamped at build time. The next review target is six months later. Corrections go through the contact form under editorial or provider-data correction. Commercial relationships, if activated later, live in a separate control and cannot flip a factual field. None is active now.
