One dispatch’s dollar, yen and won

Currency levels move through the day. This note records one Reuters dispatch on 22 October 2026 and does not update it. A remark about future borrowing costs is not a decision, and a hold in Korea is not a forecast for the yen.
Key facts
- Reuters reported the dollar index at 101.57, the euro at $1.1242 and the yen at 157.55.
- The yen level is tied, in that story, to remarks by a Bank of Japan deputy. No decision is cited.
- The won level is Reuters’ figure. The 3.00 percent rate is the Bank of Korea’s figure.
Reuters, at 2:33 a.m. Eastern time on 22 October 2026, reported the dollar index at 101.57 and the euro little changed at $1.1242. It reported the yen at 157.55, and said the currency had ticked up after Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino of the Bank of Japan signalled a readiness to raise borrowing costs. That is Reuters’ characterisation of the remarks. It is not a Bank of Japan decision, and this page does not quote a speech text.
The same dispatch reported the Korean won at 1,324 to the dollar and described it as little changed after the Bank of Korea left its benchmark rate at 3.00 percent. The Bank’s own decision confirms the hold. It does not publish the won level used by Reuters, so the exchange rate and the policy rate stay in separate sentences.
A wider retail spread around a release is a different subject. The October reading on spreads still explains that structure. It is not a description of this morning’s dollar index. Nothing here ranks a broker, and nothing here says the next policy meeting has a known result.
Why it matters for investors and traders
An exchange rate and a policy rate answer different questions. Mixing a deputy’s remarks with a decision, or a Korean hold with the yen, would invent a link the sources do not make.

Uncertainties
- These are one dispatch’s levels. A later quote can differ.
- The Bank of Japan text is not the source of the Himino sentence.
What to watch next
- Read the Bank of Korea release for the rate.
- If you need a tradable quote, use a venue you already have. This page will not become that quote.
