Learning path

Records and review

Records and review organises guides already on this site into one sequence. The level is All levels. You can open any step. The prerequisite is a recommendation, not a lock. Completing the sequence is not a certificate and does not mean a method has an edge.

What you will learn

  • Separate planned risk from the risk that was realised.
  • Define win rate, average win and average loss before using either.
  • Explain why a win rate alone does not describe expectancy.
  • Review a process with a record, without treating the record as a certificate.

Before you start

You can define a net result, a win and a loss. Advanced metrics assume the journal has those fields filled. Any step can be opened. A later step is easier if the earlier mechanism is already clear.

Worked path

Optional progress

Progress loads in the browser. Clearing stored site data removes the marks. They are not synced, and a full set of marks is not a certificate.

  1. Why a record existsThe decision and the result are different sentences.
  2. Structure a journalEntries stay in this browser. They are not uploaded.
  3. Planned and realised riskCompare the cash you assigned with the cash you lost.
  4. Win rate and average win and lossThe performance page reads the journal you entered.
  5. Profit factor starts from a resultAverage win and average loss need a defined profit and loss first.
  6. Trading drawdownsThe peak-to-trough fall and the climb back.
  7. Bias and how a review is writtenNames for patterns in a record, not a diagnosis. The method page says what a review may claim.
  8. Review the processEnter fictional trades in the journal if you want a worked record.

Learn, then calculate, then review

  1. Learn. Read the step. The mechanism is in that guide.
  2. Calculate. Open the tool and type your own inputs. This page does not send an order.
  3. Review. If you keep a journal, put the hypothetical plan next to the result. An account is not required.

Hypothetical rulebook

Write the rule before any result. The note stays in this browser. Copy it into your own journal if you want to keep it.

Knowledge check

A correct answer refers to the lesson and the worked example. It is not a certificate and it does not establish that you can trade.

A hypothetical record has 6 wins and 4 losses. Average win is 50. Average loss is 100. Which reading is available?
Planned risk and realised risk differ when:
Marking this pathway complete means:

Key takeaway

A record is useful when it holds the plan and the result. A win rate without the average win and the average loss is an incomplete sentence.
